Drove from Fort Benning (Columbus, GA) to St. Louis no stopping except for fuel and coffee. Lots of coffee. Stop and pee next to the car.

September 1968.

I think I did a couple figure eights in western Kentucky and southern Illinois. Goofy map and only two lane roads.

I was never so happy to get on route 3 next to Cape Girardeau in all my life. Only two more hours to home.

Runs and cuts.

It was the oil soaked points.

And, the goofy semi fixed HS jet in the carb. 1/4 turn from seated it ended up. Really!

Must be early morning. No boiling, seething water with 4 ft breakers from all of the luxury and offshore boat traffic that is the norm.

Just a Wednesday evening...

I think things get jacked up come Thursday night or Friday. This would be the LAST lake I’d ever buy a home on.
Though the restaurant selection and quality here is fantastic..

Good morning Folks, 59° with an auction a day for three days now if only the pro-sharp that no one else has a clue about shows up in the " many other items too numerous to list" as the 041 or the more recent Remington gear reduction saw lol

I think it's got the highest population of clueless boaters around. You need a 20+ foot boat and drive it like you're invisible. Then you have a slight chance of making around OK.

Still wouldn’t live here..

Yuk..
I wouldn't live up there either. Nastiest, dirtiest lake around.
BIL lives on the lake up there and gets house water from their well. The well gets its water from the lake. They have all kinds of filters, a water softener and reverse osmosis to clean up the water and still have to buy their drinking water .

The Osage river is naturally a grubby, silty river.
But it grows big catfish, bass and paddlefish..
Ya just gotta get somewhere out of the way to catch em I guess.
