Chest freezer died this week, so had to move in a used True 3 door freezer that I've had stored for a few years. Installed new door seals and added just a few ounces of 409a to try to get it to cool properly... I wish I could remember more of the refrigeration stuff I learned...
High and low side are both a little high (300 and 20) with 13 degrees of superheat. I am not sure what to do with it. I just hope the capillary tube isn't restricted with wax.

Edit:
This is at 85 deg ambient, and -5 interior.
It runs for 30 minutes, and kicks off. Its off for about a minute, and then kicks back on.
Throw that sumbich in the trash and get a new one..

Chest freezers are cheap..

My black fridge in the shop died last Sunday.

Good thing it tripped the breaker and I caught it.

Had my ribeyes in it..
Need a replacement? Got an older one in barn that I put away wrapped in plastic I am getting tired of looking at.

My central air has froze up the evaporator a couple of times lately.
Been looking into prices to replace the whole shebang. Furnace and all. Not liking what I'm seeing. Looking at doing it all myself, still not liking prices. So, we're discussing options and I get curious and punch into eBay "R22".
Lo and behold I've got a 30lb drum will be here the 3rd. Decided since I've got most of the other stuff to do my own a/C work (gauges, vacuum pump, brazing equipment, etc.) I sprung for a used reclamation pump, reclaim tank, another set of gauges and electronic scales to weigh in Freon. I figure I can keep mine and my daughter's going for several more years .
:aaaaa:

Nice and how did you get R22 do you have that EPA license or what ever? I kind of want to buy some now.

The Loving Power of the Universe shined on my day. Morning shade with a breeze so the auction friends and myself could work out the world's troubles in relative comfort before the auctioneer started disturbing the peace! Wasn't really anything I wanted after inspection of one corner of the ho-made trailer, only made one wrong turn. Got to picnic with my offerings and was left the best parking spot. Good company, good food better breeze with thicker shade.
Guessers: Nyahh Nyaahhh wrong again LOL
