I've got a Tanaka commercial trimmer and backpack blower that I really like a lot. The trimmer is amazingly quiet. Also got a Dolmar trimmer that works great.
I tried the Super EZ clearing bar out and this is the thing for clearing brush without constantly derailing your chain.

I wish these were still legally available. I would use it to shrink the brush pile on the trailer to let me pile more on there.

It seems I get 10-20 times the limbs on a trailer load by doing this (shrinking the brush pile). I call it "mulching" the pile down. A little extra work but it beats making 10 trips to the brush pile, which for me is a 20 minute drive one way. I use any saw to get it done, and yes, I have thrown a chain on occasion.

The trick is getting the load of mulched limbs off my trailer. I lay a strap across the bottom of the trailer and across the fenders. When I get loaded I cinch the strap around the load of limbs. When I get to my brush pile I back up to brush pile, chock the wheels, throw strap over brush pile, unhook trailer, drive around to other side of brush pile, hook up to strap, pull load of limbs off trailer, drive back around and hook up trailer. It sure beats unloading by hand, especially in July and August.

You should sell that trailer and get a 16' dumper.
And a small loader to haul around in it.

Would love to have both. I can't justify the cost with the amount of firewood I do. I am considering getting out all together, or downsizing to just a few customers.

I want one whether I can justify it or not..

Remember..
Trailers don't depreciate like cars.
I can sell the flatbed for 95% of what I bought it for new in 2006.

I'd bet I could sell mine and get more than I gave for it in 97.
They really, really hold there value.

Going to try planting potatoes this year.
Again.
Actually bought some seed potatoes this time, unlike last year I just stuck some in the ground and waited. And got nothing.
I don't know why they call them "seed" potatoes. They don't look like seeds at all.
They look just like some old potatoes the wife hasn't thrown away yet.
Daughter is going to do a family garden this year.
I'm just going to see what I can kill in these barrels this year.

Water drainage is important
In barrels, too much water rots stuff

I'm in the market for a trailer now, got a truck yesterday. I figured I might get a new one, since like you said, they don't seem to depreciate much. Truck cost a lot, though. Hope I get my tree license so I can pay for it. LOL

Potato seeds are so small you can hardly see them. What they do is make a really small cut with a special tool that also puts the seed in the potato. Then they put them in a warm moist building and in about 10 to 14 days they sprout. That is what you see growing out of the seed potato.

Does that trailer place in Carthage have decent deals? Sanders? Might make me able to come to the gettogether if I pick up a trailer.
Not qualified to answer that, as I've never checked them out.

Good morning!

Today is picture day at Emerson's school, and I never got around to getting him a haircut. Fortunately, his hair is curly, so it pulls itself into a good look. Parenting is going well, thank the Lord. Still waiting on my copy of the ANSI tree trimming regs to come in the mail. Twenty bucks, it was. Ready to do some cold smoking! Got my pellet grill set up yesterday, it seems to work fine.

Any recommendations for a a trailer that would be good for tree work? Not sure I'm ready to spring for a dump bed just yet, Nancy and I have a bit of sticker shock from the lightly used truck, so I need to keep some peace here at home. Anniversary the Friday, and the baby sitter said she is available! Whew that was lucky.

I found a thread on the I H8 Mud forum, where a guy's rebuilding an old 009 series saw. I need help figuring out the oil pump setup, it's weird on that saw. Oiling seems to be the hardest part for me to figure out in general. Too many saws-- I was making up a "saw plan," and I got it down to a thirty saw plan, which means I have to rehab a bunch of them to sell. Lot of orange and white in my garage...

Take care, be safe on this beautiful day!
