I just bought this model 500 & got it delivered today. It's missing the drivecase cover, bar plates,& tensioner. The seller never said anything about those parts missing or showed a pic of that side of the saw.I think the Buz chainsaw took the same parts,so there may be hope that I'll get this saw operational before I die.

I had a friend send me a marketplace listing for this ECS. I have been looking for one for quite some time as I've got the generator that powers it. 230 volt 3 phase 160 cycle. It's the first chainsaw model that Homelite manufactured.

That reminds me of my Stihl E30. A fairly compact powerhead that weighs an incredible 48 lbs.

Any you guys want this for parts just pay shipping. No idea on model for sure. Case has JB crack repairs in a couple areas. Clutch looks great, it's stuck but doesn't show scoring with muffler off. Let me know.IMG_20220320_133600345_HDR.jpg IMG_20220320_133545114_HDR.jpg

I'm not familiar with the model. I looked it up to see one. I mainly build old macs so I'm not up on the homelite models too much. Are looking to have it put back together?

Actually after a little searching I found a couple for sale for around $250, if that helps. You we're asking if is was worth it. I guess judge by how much you would have to spend to get it running.

Could anyone here use a Homelite cover plate? I got one in a box of misc parts awhile back and I'm getting tired of kicking it around, if anyone here needs it just pm me your address and I'll be happy to send it to you, otherwise I'll probably just chuck it.

I've been tasked with getting a few Super 2's running and seem to have a lot of problems with the coils. Were these (points models) particularly noted for coil failures. In the past 6 weeks or so I've had 3 saws and three bad coils...pretty soon I am going to run out of parts saws to rob.

Will the electronic coil from the later models work on the points saws? Do you need to use the electronic ignition flywheel on the older saws?

And while we're on the subject, will the fully adjustable (H/L) carburetor from the later models work on the early saws with the fixed H jet?

Thanks,

Mark

A new Walbro MA-6-1 modulated coil will work on those small saws as well as others and weed wackers too with the same size flywheel.

You may find the oil pump arrangement to be the determining factor there. Some derived a case pulse via the carb. The IPLs are available on Leon's site and well worth having handy.

And I can never resist posting this whenever the small Homie oil pump subject arises. Clears up everything. LOL
