It's that impulse nipple. the last guy to rebuild it jammed that on there and it ripped. that's your leak. shucks.
Just rebuilt a 346 with a intake that looked just like this one. I actually found the leak while pressure checking. New intake and it passed pressure/vac test.

Thanks @04ultra for the ipls and advice.

Thanks Al, I'll have my own mini 50cc shoot out. 026Pro vs 5100s vs 346.

Planning on just muff moding the 346. We'll see how it hangs with the rest.

IMG_4100.JPG Cylinder cleaned up nicely. I ordered a new Meteor piston from Dave.

I also modified an 18" Oregon K041 .325 .050 72 to 095 mount. Had this new bar laying around and figured why not. I opened the adjustment holes a little and since the K041 oils through the adjustment hole, I welded the top of the hole so it won't oil through the adjustment holes. I'm not sure if that's an issue or not but it can't leak now. I drilled a new oiler hole. Pic is of it when one side was done. Not going to win any awards but it should work and it's free. (The black marker is showing the trough that the stock K041 oils from). IMG_4101.JPG IMG_4104.JPG

GWS Pat's 026 Pro and 5100. They aren't gonna like a 45mm 346.

I don't think this stock with a MM is going to come close to my 5100S. Rich @Poleman ported it. That thing has some serious attitude. It turns a 20" 3/8" better than my stock 036 does. That is my favorite to run 50cc saw.

The 026 is advanced and has a nice big MM. It runs well for what it is, but from what I've read on the internet, this 346 (when finished) will take it's lunch money.

It's cool to be excited about a saw build

Didn't know the 5100 was ported. Yeah. That's different.

I just ported a 350 with an AM 45mm semi-closed port jug, the one with removable transfer covers. It runs a little better than a stock NE 346. I'm porting the 346 tomorrow. Got the squish cut tonight but wifey wanted to have dinner at the new restaurant in town. So I'll try and finish tomorrow.
Good running little saws

Very cool. I've never run one stock or ported. Wish I had the talent to port. Assembly and slight modifications are it for me right now. Someday I'll take the plunge.

Yes, you need to keep your wife happy.

Those who rebuild it last time did one awful job.

If you study the gasket marks you can see that they should had Dremel out one little impulse channel in the bearing cup for 346 cylinder.
IMG_4093.JPG

This part is toasted, 90% sure it's the reason why your 350 had airleak.

They used non OEM screws when they slapped it together. I would had study the plastic piece where the boot to the carb is attached also.

You had one picture of the carb also, if I remember correct they had bend the the spot where the throttle rod is attached instead of fixing the spring (you can see on this picture that the spring look very weird)

The good thing is that you was able to fix the jug, and with a few parts you will have a nice runner.

Tor do you have a photo of the channel for the impulse done to a 350? I'm having a hard time picturing this.

I watched mattyo's 346 video, but I have not had the time to watch his 350 ones.

I ordered a new oem carb for it. I'm working on getting appropriate screws and new intake pieces.

It's in my vids somewhere . ..best to grind a bit on the bearing cup....watching my 346 vids is good....but isn't nearly as helpful as watching my 350 vids...since that's what you have.

you dont need to dremmel as deep as I did, if you size up how deep the jug will go down in the bearing cup you only need to dremmel out a channel a tad longer.

I appreciate all of the help guys. The videos and pictures are very helpful.

So the way this saw had been assembled, how did it run without a working impulse hose? Obviously, Not well but you know what I mean?

Also on my site....had a 394 with similar issue. Aparently there is enough fuel for running...but not enough to run well. no power...and a risk of scoring obviously.

Best of luck :)

they run without the channel, but the only impulse channel you have is the one your gasket give you.
If they use any sealant the risk of having even less impulse channel is even bigger.

Yes this had orange permagasket sealant that felt like silicon. It looked like the O2 sensor stuff. I can't see how anything got to the carb.

I'm going to have to take a day off to watch all of the videos. Great resource.

Too bad these saws aren't more straight forward like a professional series Stihl or Dolmar jk
