Granddaughter's Jeep started surging on acceleration. Error codes indicate cams out of phase. Again. I just replaced timing chain, cam sensors, and oil control valves about a year ago. I hate newer vehicles.

Newest vehicle I've owned was a 2001 VW Jetta TDI. Great car until it was totaled by a distracted driver a couple years ago. I don't think I'll go any newer than that. Currently have a '99 Tacoma and a '98 Pathfinder. Both are rock-solid, dead-dog reliable rigs that will take a person anywhere.

I finally got a call back from Holley on Thursday about my ECU that has been in shipping and testing limbo for weeks now.
I was told it passed testing. He also told me he was calling because he was verifying everything I've tested, then said I'd get a new ECU but needed to check a few things and he would call back...
All this BS has put my mind back into the "I don't want to work on this " mode. I was hoping to have ran it down the road at this point of the year..
I'm real close to pulling out all the Holley stuff, cutting up a factory harness I have, going with HP tuners and chalking this whole Terminator X max thing up as a very expensive mistake.
I've even considered a carbed intake with the module to run the coils. And at this point I'd adapt a fůcķing Thermoquad to it before I'd bolt a Holley on.
Darn, yer not alone. Holley-china couldn't efi their way out of a brown paper bag.

I like jeeps, but they are junk. Get her a Toyota.

That’s my dream car, if I ever get lucky enough to find one that I can afford.
I’m not a computer guy so can’t offer any help, I try to avoid them

Well no computer bs here today. Just 22" Yukon wheels, 3/8 wheel spacers and longer studs. I will say that a 5/8 ground rod driver in the air hammer is a very effective wheel stud remover. Yes a hammer does the same thing but my luck I'd swing, miss the stud and take out the break line. I wanted 20" wheels but these popped up in Erie, PA for a good deal so i settled and took a little road trip

Yall northerners rust still shocks me a little 😆

I’m not a big wheels guy but that’s pretty clean

Now when they start putting lo pro mud tires on “14 wides” (whatever the flip that is supposed to mean) on 4x4 diesels…nah. Too far from function.

We have tons of them diesel dans running around with $8k in wheels/tires with the rubber band mud tires and the wheels that stick out 10ft. Rust and vehicles is definitely a never ending battle here. I just fluid film everything every October and that helps alot

Modified a small road trailer to an atv trailer. I'm in disbelief how expensive atv trailers are here in Alaska. Screw that.

Flipped the axle for more ground clearance. Trimmed the axle bolts. Cut and tucked the fenderwells. Trimmed the loading ramp into a tailgate. Cut off the steel brake light brackets. Flipped the tounge to get the trailer level for ATV's. Cut off all the wiring. Removed the trailer jack.

Just gotta build wooden sides.

Working purdy good. Though definitely at the limitation of the brakes going down a steep hill. Used 4 low and didn't smell any burning clutch belt. The oil cooler fan turned on, she got hot! Air cooled motor, so running 5w-50 lucas atv/utv oil.

Heck yeah! Behind my old shop, there was an old international medium duty truck with a 501 cubic inch red diamond gas engine.

Always thought that would be a viable alternative to the garbage diesels presently offered. An entire engine rebuild would cost less than a single diesel injector.

The red diamond engines really aren't obsolete. They could be used if somebody was willing to test things.

Nor is a 292 chevy or 300 ford obsolete and they were in production around the same time as the big block international inline 6's.

So I'm putting an ignition lock cylinder and housing in father in law's POS 2005 Chevy Colorado. I found a complete housing and cylinder with keys from another 05 Colorado in a junkyard. If you are replacing the whole thing, is the ECM going to play nice with the new/used parts?

If I recall correctly it will after a theft relearn procedure.
I'll try to look that up today if I remember.
The bolt that holds the whole thing to the column is a shear bolt so you'll need to spin it loose with a hammer and chisel and have a new bolt to install it. I think they are M6.
