What about Nissan Altima? My son is 16 in August and I need to find something. Nissan seems to be more affordable than Honda or Toyota.

When I was a tech in the 2000's they were excellent if you took care of them. My BIL has a 2019 with a manual transmission and loves it.

This engine is going to be pushing 400 - 425 horsepower. Gonna make it low geared enough that he won't be as apt to get killed at high speed.

400-425 geared low is great for roasting tires.

Chevrolet 350 with a TH350 transmission. Now it has an 8.8 4:11 posi rear end in it. I don't expect it to hold up. When it comes apart, I'll build a 9" Ford axle with a spool.

To be fair, there wasn't much of anything that would impress back then. This was the era of the 305 unpowered Z28 and front wheel drive Dodge "Chargers". The few bright spots included the Buick Grand National and Mustang SVO.

Small block Fords could be fun too. It required better pistons, cam, timing set, balancing rotating assembly, head porting, MSD or Mopar ignition box, and of course stripping all the garbage out of the engine compartment. You know. $$$$$
