Stihl 044: Brute power and quick throttle response.
Sold it for a Husky?Ok I just sold my 044 it was a12 mm but it was mmws . it ran awesome .
They also hold a Jon Boat in place really well.
I prefer the 12mm
I can't believe I liked this post! Lol
That's because the angled fins dig into the dirt better. They also hold a Jon Boat in place really well.
Guessing here a bit, but I'd say that a 10mm would probably be better suited to the quickness of a short bar. And a 12mm with the bigger crank would probably be better suited to a long bar. But I've got a 440 in the garage with what appears to have the same crank as a 10mm saw, but it uses a 12mm pinIf an 044 10mm and a 12mm were both ported, I'm guessing using the same porting numbers, would they be equal in HP or cutting speed? I've always read the 10mm was faster than the 12mm in stock form.
An old Logger I know said the early 044's were his favorite of all the saws he's used in over 40 years of Logging.
I have 1 stihl left . it's a very minty oh64 .Sold it for a Husky?
Me, too.If I had a 044 12mm I would put a 046 top end on it
Thats the combo I have to build alsoI have a 12 mm for a hybrid build but no 10mm.
