Lee, if you run a 10mm and 12mm saw side by side you WILL feel and hear a noticeable difference. Even idling or from a distance the sound difference is notable. You might also like an early 046 over the later or MS 460 for pretty much the same reasons, though those sound more alike.

046 I had, had flywheel whine kinda like a 660 to me. I don’t notice as much on a 044.

I had a 12mm 044. Real good saw. Still have a 372. If it wasn't for sidehilling brush, and my climber needing a light tree saw to chunk down trees. I thought I would get rid of that size saw. But I'm using the 372 more and more. I used to live my 044, but I got a 460 later. I would grab a 46 first. Not sure I would trade a 372 for either. I like the stump power on the 46, but the anti vibration and filtration in the 372 better.
