The stuff Dan and I cut splits super easy with the fiskars, really straight grain. The last oak I split was a pain, tons of knots in it, took forever to split!
When it's straight grain like that i split faster with the fikars than I do with the hydraulic splitter!

Finally making progress on my cache. Here in NM we mainly have piñon, juniper, pine, and brush oak. I’ve been behind the past 2 years since we moved, so want to get back to being At least 2 winters ahead. Having Labor Day off, I’m planning on making 3 trips to the hills.D979E947-80FD-4C17-82EC-95E1C9992AB8.jpeg

I haven't touched my log pile in 2-3 months, too damn hot! :(
Haven't even stacked the bucked and split wood.
But no worries, I am covered for at least this winter and then some.
I too want to get ahead 2-3 winters.

I saw a lot

Guy calls and says he has some logs for me, got my number from another firewood contact. Once I got there he admitted he knew what it was, so I showed him. Took 3/4 and wouldn't allow him or his friend to help. They just had to watch!
That should teach them for lying.20200907_180202.jpg

Looks like ash, not pine as they told you. Let's buck to length and split some of this soon. That's about 100 therms or more of NG equivalent loaded in your truck, also known as 10 million BTUs. Had I been there, we would have loaded all of it, rain or shine.

Good score!
