I'm not sure. This is a first for me. I can tell you it's hard. Sounds like you clunk two baseball bats together when you bang two pieces together. I will let you know after I burn some.

Found some hardware yesterday. Wrecked a chain on this one, and another chain on something else I couldn’t make out what was, yesterday.

Today I found this little treat. The chain just needs a sharpening, as it was nowhere near the size of the eye hook I hit yesterday.

that purple wood in your stack is that yew
No, it’s called western cedar, but it’s actually a species of juniper, much like alligator juniper. It’s one of the more prevalent tree around here in New Mexico. I wish we had some of the huge straight trees most you guys have. These trees here are more shrub like. You have to cut 50 limbs to get 3 or 4 good rounds. The only big wood is ponderosa pine.

Spoke with an old timer today about some downed hickory on his place.
As we're jawing back n forth, he asked me if I'd be interested in a couple dozen cotton-sacks full of Anthracite?
He's just looking to be shed of it. Turns out its about 25-30, 50 lbs bags he's had for a few decades at least!o_O
I recall my grandparents using coal & firewood back in the day. (circa 1965)
How safe would this stuff be in an open fireplace...mixed with firewood?

Might stink a little but should coal up fine if you add it sparingly. I always watch CL for free coal.

Spent all day yesterday cutting and splitting. I have 7-9 cords split and stacked already. This pile is probably 5-6 cords, and I have another 4-5 cords to cut and split. It’s slowly moving forward. Lol

35t? That's a good splitter. I'm looking ahead to buy a TSC splitter, but their new design is not good from what I've heard, and seen. They just don't make them like that 35T Huskee.

Yes, 35 ton. It’s a decent unit. There isn’t much this won’t do. It’ll pinch through a round if you put it in sideways. I bought it well used years ago, and it’s still going good. The only complaint I have is that the engine is on the operator side. It’s nice in the winter, but extremely hot in the summer, which is when I do most of my splitting.
