I wanted to “like” that post for the great looking food but there was elm in there... no likes for that!Rounded up about 1-1/2 cord of Elm for my son-in-laws father, probably that much left to load tomorrow. It was rather steamy loading today.

And as my reward I am going to treat myself to some prime rib & ribs for supper. I should be set for breakfast & dinner tomorrow also.

So you are saying you just raided someone else’s firewood pile... That’s a nice find. It’s been to hot here for me to consider cutting/loading/splitting/stacking. A front just came thru this week is supposed to be cooler.Grand total of my weekend score of mulberry and ash. Maybe 1.5 cords and should be very little cutting needed.

That Chevy got a load and a half on it. Nice!
Keep us posted. I’d like to see the slabs.Howdy folks! So against my better judgement, I decided to suffer through the heat and take down a good sized Locust tree this past weekend. The size was probably 40 ft tall, with a 40 ft diameter crown. The trunk is 3 ft at the base and about 10.5 ft tall and I'm going to try and mill it. The other short trunk is about 4 ft across and maybe 8 ft tall from an Elm I took down earlier this year and I plan on trying to mill it as well. I've got firewood for several years out, so that's why I'm going to try my hand at milling.

I also agree, that is a heck of a load. Locust is some of the heavier wood out there, so don't brake an axle.
