No she is not!
Factory stock (never taken apart 2003. unit) with what most would consider a waste of time mild muffler mod.

She's a beast and sexy to boot.

Pretty impressive pulling a 36" bar and chain! Makita/Dolmars are very sleek looking! I like 'em! Makita will be my next saw for sure!

Here is a load of some kinda oak me & my 11 yr old grandson nabbed off a FB ad.
About 12 minutes from the house...the owner helped us load it...and we were outta there in 15 minutes!!
BTW...any ideas on the oak type?
Owner said some was White oak and the ever elusive "Sasquatch oak!":polutxoso:

I have noodled beech and oak boards with the 36" bar fully buried, my PS-7900 has no issues pulling that setup whatsoever.

My stock Dolmar PS-7310 with just a mild muffler mod will also pull my 36" B&C setup.
She even feels faster in the cut as long as the bar tip sticks out of the other side of the log, but once buried one notices that she lacks a little bit low end grunt over her bigger sibling the 79er.
Check out my YT channel, nothing staged, all imperfect real life performance. :)

Look into getting a 73xx or 79xx, of the two the 7310 is the secret undeclared factory hot rod once You remove the mufflers SLR. ;)
Four more months till the annual NY GTG, save up till then and buy a brand new saw, sure beats fixing a raped and abused unit.

I dare say that the 7900 is THE saw Stihl and Husqvarna wish they came up with two decades ago (my PS-6400 is made 2001., my PS-7900 is made 2003.).

A little eye candy . . .

I've watched a few of them and it is impressive for sure! I'm going to get the 7900. I've put a 36" Stihl bar and skip tooth chain on my 461, and while it'll pull it, it doesn't like it much and that was in soft cottonwood. Those Makita's seem to do very well!

If that 461 is stock it's a slug(edit; compared to what it could be:)), get it ported and an oiler mod and it will do much better. Heck even a mm and a timing advance helps a lot.
I like the 7900/7910's better though, the 461 is a great saw though, they last forever.

It does have a gutted muffler and a dual port muffler cover. I have been keeping a 28 inch full comp on it and it does great with that, so that's just how I kept it, well both of them actually, as I have 2 of them.

I'm always looking for a reason to buy a new saw, so porting money always just gets put into new saws. I plan on porting the 7900 when I get it. If they run that good stock, they must be a complete beast ported.

You should bump the timing on one of them, or get it ported, I think you may be surprised with either option.
Here's a ported 7900, I also have a ported 7910, great runners. Firewood in the background to stay on topic :).

Do it James, enough with the threats :b1:.
Going to borrow a 32 from brian. Wish I could pry that Terry built 395 away for a day lol. Not worth spending the money on a 32 and chains for the once every 3 years I need one. Need to trade the 111 for an 066 or something in that range.

What’s nice, is having a concrete pad to pile it on. Mine always gets mud on the bottom

I am quite lucky this year. My friend has so graciously allowed me to occupy this little corner of his tree service lot. Brings the logs I cherry pick out of the pile over with his skid steer and lets me do my thing. Come delivery time he'll let me use one of his dumps and help get me loaded and on my way. In return I help him out on his big job or getting ready when his actual employees are routinely late. Do as much maintenance as I can around the place and help keep an eye on things. One hand washes the other...

I'd like that too.
I am thankful to have saws, splitter, and the tractor, can't imagine having to do it all with an axe .
The majority of that pile was split with a gransfors bruk maul. I have a splitter hiding in the container behind the pile, but I only use it on the gnarly pieces. Anything decent I can get split much faster swinging the maul. Give me a big round of red oak most people don't care for. As long as it is not right in the crotch I can pop piece after piece of with the maul. So quick and so rewarding. I really just much prefer not burning the fuel, with my head right next to the engine, breathing the exhaust. Personal preference.
