I got a little for my cabin this morning. The property that I cut on is primarily red and white oak. There is one area that has Black Locust. I was cutting oak and I noticed the blowover Black Locust. For you guys that have never cut Black Locust, the bark falls off after you cut and handle it leaving the mess in the woods. I used my Stump Shot 550xpg and my scarr 4350 this morning.

If you look at a map of Grayling, Mi you will see on 4 mile road off I-75 Georgia pacific, AJD, Weyerhaeuser and Arauco, all have log trucks going in there by the hundreds daily. Plant burns their waste wood.

Ran the 261c hard(breakin it in still and liking her a lot!!)…white oak, walnut, and what I think is Bradford pear (please let me know if that’s right), nice score of wood….hope a lot more to come….helped this tree guy cut up some smaller stuff and hauled some limbs off and he hooked me up..

I know that chain looks aggressive, that’s after 2-tanks and cutting all that wood up but the big sections of white oak the 18” bar couldn’t reach…just goes to show you can do a lot with a chain if you takers are busted accordingly!!!!

You’re probably fairly smart and can figure out what it meant…adjust rakers accordingly…I knew it would fool even the smartest, lol…I’ll fix it just for you…

I got a little today for my cabin. I had a bad day at work and left early to go cut firewood. I cut up four blowovers. I used my scarr 4350 and my Stump Shot 572XP. The pics are from one of the blowovers. I took pics of this one to start a conversation. It's a Oak that blew over in July of 2019. So the tree was laying there a long time. The trunk was off the ground. Most of the bark was off the tree. The bark that was still on had moss on it. The pieces that I cut still had a lot of weight to them. The wood is hard when you hit it with a axe. I cut and burn far worse trees than this one. It's laying right next to a trail so it's easy. I'm just curious if you guys harvest stuff like this for firewood?

Yeah I'll definitely take logs like that, I supply myself with an indoor fisher stove and my step-dad gets all of the less good pieces for his pressurized outdoor boiler he built. Those pieces would probably be mostly for the outdoor unit but hey, they still burn and create heat right?
I personally don't use anything like that indoors because it makes more of a mess, though with Oak you can always split off and toss the rotten under-bark and the centers are typically still good on pieces like that which limits the mess making nature of decomposing Oak chunks.

Because I sell wood that’s a lot of the stuff I/ the rest of my family burns. The nice perfect stuff is worth too much and if the wood is a little ugly it still makes good heat

Was a unplanned job for my aunt, I wanted it done with quick as I had another job planned for the PM.

All of it bucked on the same sharpening.

Got the rest of that tree home and found some more useable wood to make it a load.

Now I have something to try out my new splitter pump. Relocated the filter to the return line too. Changed hydro and engine oil. Should be good for another couple years. Just waiting on a 3/4” 90 for that filter housing. The supply connected to it and that’s 1” so my 3/4 return didn’t want to stretch that far, lol.

Those are firewood logs purchased from the "Croatian Forestry" and delivered by a private trucking service provider.

I don't have the equipment to handle & transport logs, and I don't like cutting down trees.
