I sometimes get a long 4" diameter branch and a round. Prop it up next to the log. I try and use the stuff I have in the woods for leverage. Most of the times it works.

It's oak, but I've done a standing dead locust off this property that showed 11% on a moisture meter in the middle of the trunk. This place produces some oddities.

My firewood haul for the day. I'll probably try and mill the trunk if my saw decides to ever start again. Lol This was a lot bigger once it hit the ground than what it looked like when it was standing. I figured 3 to 4 hours tops and it took about 7. I threw several smaller pieces to the load that was already on the trailer.
