RI Chevy , I would love to get help with carrying firewood. The landowners I cut for have big outside wood boilers . The log spliter they use only opens to 26" . They want me to block the wood into 26" lengths . Limbs Smaller than 4" diameter can be cut up to 36" long . They like long pieces of wood for the boilers . I would love to block the wood into shorter pieces , I'd be a lot lighter to carry . I noodle just so it's lighter for me to carry . I use a 395xp with a 36" 404 bar for noodling.

BTW...looks like I may have lucked up on some decent fatwood for quick fire starts!
This was on the roadside and my wife spotted it.
Don't know what level of resin is resident, but I will shortly!
Is that gnarly piece on top possiblely Persimmon?20211217_140557.jpg 20211217_141939.jpg 20211217_140531.jpg

Would you mess with these white oak chunks?
I'm tempted, but I have no help or equipment besides a Cant Hook, ramps, and a creaky back!
Some backbreaking labor right here...

It does not look like persimmon to me. Hard to tell from that picture though. Persimmon is yellow, like hedge and mulberry, usually with a black vein running through the middle.

I recently purchased a 24" 404 bar for my ported 572xp. The 404 stays sharp much longer than 3/8 in dirty wood .

Looks like another nice score ! Where do you get your wood , do you own a lot of land ?
I used to work full time at a small used motorcycle shop. Got to be good friends with the owner. He has some land and is letting me cut the dead standing trees. Theres lots of them too, and he’s about 12 miles from me.

My mountain is growing.

Pretty much 4 rows deep. This along with what I have already stacked, is more than I’ve ever had at one time. I’m probably looking at the next 5 years worth when I’m done, if not 6.

Looks good ! The land owners I cut for are two brothers that are retired farmers . They sold some of the land . I think they currently own around 500 acres . There sister owns a 40 that attaches to there land . I cut at the sisters last winter . We had a tornado July of 2019 that destroyed the area . They had a logging company come in to clean up the mess . All the trees I cut for them are blow overs . Most of the trees still have the rote ball still attached to the tree . The good thing is most of the tree are off the ground so they won't rot . I will never run out of wood to cut .

Those locust won't rot anyway ;).
Edit; but if you think they eat a chain up now, give them a few yrs, they only get harder.
