Yes it is but it’s the best firewood. Right Brett? @chipper1
It will dull a chain for sure, I find a slower saw with good power does well on it, and the chains last a little better.

I wouldn't say it's the best, but I sure like it a lot and I have had quite a bit available. I still have a good number of BL trees next door to take down, mostly hung up and either broke, but still holding on. Once I get the barn roof finished, one more larger tree job and a smaller pruning job done, then I may start working on firewood again. I like to go out in Jan/ Feb and cut down dead standing BL. Usually I split it right where I drop it, toss it in the bucket and bring it right into the house. I set the rounds or large splits around the wood stove to let them dry, by the next day they have 3/16-3/8" splits in them :b1:.
I need to pick up these cookies and bring them in.

Once it dries it's very hard.
Great wood though.
This morning I'm burning a few smaller rounds of BL a split and two larger splits of cherry, it's supposed to get up to 46 today, don't want to overheat the house.

Nothing better than noodling up the giant bases. Nobody wants to man handle that stuff. Well unless you got heavy equipment with splitter attachment. I noodle them. Atleast into quarters at the very least. Depends how large they are.

It sure is great burning wood! I've cut my fair share up down bl or some that has sat around. Every time I do it I feel like it's a job better suited for my demo saw lol.

I love that tundra. She looks pretty minty! Those were great trucks!

Last spring I cut a lot of it off my neighbors property that had been down for many yrs, with a full chisel chain you where touching it up every tank. It didn't help it had dirt under the moss growing on it.
These were from April 2020. I'm burning this wood now.

Look at those cut lines, it just gets harder and harder as it sits there.
