How do you measure out an 18" stick if you have nothing to measure with?
Yes, but I just use the same method as Stump shot, for the most part. But I was talking about in general, because most people don't measure their hands that I know of.Dude......you just finished posting about how you could measure with your hands.
Also......you surely realize how long the bar on your saw is.
A smart guy like you should be able to get really close.
Right?

I already said I got it covered: tape measure when the length needs to be precise, or justs mark the bar or use hands or something.I mean.....do you file your chains before you go cut? Get some gas? Oil? Grab a *frenching tape measure too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm gonna go grind some cylinders now and try to overthink while I do it.
Apparently I broke a nail. I have no idea when that happened.Don't hurt yourself. LOL

My stove takes 15" max wide at the door. The fire box will take 17" inside. No worries and I'm not measuring nothing. If you ask for 16 or 15 or 18" that's what you get. I have eyes to see with.If you have a stove that only takes a certain sized log then measure. I do.
It also makes for a nice looking stack. Nice and even.
If you don't want to measure then don't. To each his own
