Echo 7310 build thread

After using JB Weld in literally hundreds of intake ports without any issues, I'm not at all concerned about using it. I tried Devcon for awhile, but JB Weld is at least 10 times better for this application.

I'm not scared of pigs, white legs or jb weld randy! I can't do stinky feet though, like this one logger guy I was bunked up with in camp!

I see that. You are basically increasing the size of the combustion area down to the second ring so to speak. More space, less compression.

I’ve tore this saw back down for some changes. More on that later...

but here is the initial cut.

28” full comp/full chisel. Chain isn’t the greatest. Red oak crotch. I’ll get the next video in cants.

So far, this saw woke up a good deal. It needs more balls. But short of cutting the head off and machining one with a smaller chamber and wider band.....I’m stuck.

Looks good for a worksaw IMO, nice job.

I'm not a fan of those transfer caps. But the rest is pretty cool.

The carb.....is it tunable? On many Echo saws, getting it lean enough to make RPM is impossible without some mods to the carb.

From what I've seen in build threads only......just want to point out that I've not had one on the bench....they have to be filled with epoxy or you will grind a hole through them. I have no problem using epoxy in the intake port, or even in the lower transfers. But I'm not real keen on using it to prevent an air leak.

The caps look plenty deep for a leak to not be a problem, but I agree.

Randy spent the last 2 days helping me evaluate “need vs want” and I determined I don’t need another saw- cause I already have the greatests 70cc + saw made in the 395xp.

Seriously though, I have a 440/46d hybrid and a nos 7900 so I don’t need another.

I considered making a dozen or so. Would probably be 5 minute run time per cover once I got the program written

Agreed, Randy. So I did this....


If I planned on keeping this saw, I’d be more apt to stick with the epoxy. But that’s a risk I cannot take when sending this saw to someone else.
