Echo 7310 build thread

Welp, let’s have some fun with this saw. I’m building/porting (14) 1128’s ...


but I’m stuck waiting on some parts. So, I did what any -performance gains junkie- would do. I tore down the new 7310 for modifications.


I love build threads and I’ve gleaned many a trick from y’all fine folks here. So I figured let’s do this in real time and see what we can learn about these orange and black sons of guns. Feel free to jump in and add to, or jump in and critique. I’m an open book.

I’ll start this off by saying that I was not impressed at all with the performance of this saw (stock).

It has a lot of great features, but left a little or a lot to be desired on the business end. Unfortunately I didn’t get video of the saw as a stocker. Handles well, feels good in the hands, is smooth. But underperformed in the sack.

I’m digging the air filter setup. Brought down a 28” diameter red oak running 32” full comp, full chisel. Then bucked that tree up, largely on a couple tanks of fuel. Nothing made it past the filter. Not a great sample size, but I’d imagine air filtration to be a non-issue with this saw.








Muffler is pretty choked up, but the good news here is that there is plenty of room up top to enlarge the current outlet or purchase a @Red97 deflector and add to either side of the can.


Muffler is hollow, no trickery going on in this department.

Overall, I love the design. Very simple saw to work on, tear down was a breeze. The triple uppers I was not expecting. But the story that the degree wheel tells...is not much different than what we’re used to seeing.




Clutch seems small to me.

Well said and right on the money. I was disappointed as well. I muffler modded mine and have not really run it since to see if there was a benefit.

Initially, I’d heard that the secondaries opened up well after the primary transfers. At first glance, this picture would seem to indicate that....


At the cylinder wall, it’s not so much.

Notice the ramp in the secondary transfers, to direct that charge. The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s the steepest ramp I’ve seen in transfers.
