I looked at the container of dominator and cant seem to find anywhere on the container what the JASO rating is, unless i am blind & stupid. I saw where the red armor has a "D" rating. I dont like to assume that the dominator is a "D" rating just because its a main stream / popular oil. Looked on their website and dont see it listed anywhere there. Has anyone found what the rating is- i would guess its a "C" or "D"

I’m not arguing the point, as I don’t care about being right or wrong.

All the searching I did shows they do, but none of the results were directly off AMSOIL’s website. All of the google, AI and linked info tries to say it is but it’s a bit murky. I’m wondering if AMSOIL knows they could get the rating but basically care less about it since they are top tier oil as it is ???

I would think that if they met the rating standard that they would want it on their container.
I could see a couple reasons why it might not be worth it to them. First, they would have to pay for the certification. Second, if they know their oil performs significantly better than the rating requires, then it isn’t really a selling point if their oil can be compared to something that just barely meets the spec.

Greg exactly right.

Some choose not to pay the "protection fee" ...

Amsoil marches to a different beat in many ways. Their response is probably something along the lines of "consider the results of the four ball wear test. Which oil are you going to put in your engine? We don't need no stinking badges."

ETA: I run the ever living snot out of my saws. 32:1 Dominator is the glue that holds them together!

JASO has a list of certified oils. Amsoil isnt on there. Dominator would probably pass FD. Saber probably would not.

Dominator is good oil according to people I trust. However, significantly better is a real stretch. The stuff isnt magic.

I'm sure if people stopped buying Amsoil in favor of a product with current JASO certification then it wouldn't be long before Amsoil was JASO certified too. Ultimately if it works for people and the product is profitable then why would you do anything different?

But if its not listed nobody else does. I have always thought companys want all of the ratings for selling points. Not everyone is that into oils like most folks on the forum- their consumer base is -I would say- to "most"regular folks

I don't think Amsoil is catering to regular folks with any of their products. As a boutique oil company my best guess is that Amsoil has cultivated a solid following that keeps them in business and they don't feel it's worth it to try and capture more of the market. I would venture a "guess" that upscaling operations has a slew of problems and costs that may or may not be worth it. I watched a friend of mine setup his small tree service and he had to orient his approach so that he wasn't trying to compete with the enormous tree services in the area because upscaling would have been so incredibly costly. Even if you're very good it can be easier and more profitable to keep your business smaller.

Certification would have benefits for Amsoil.
