If a thread didn't get derailed, I'd become bored with all the saw talk. We're an easily distracted bunch.
Don't care what the web says I aint
adding fancy beer to my oil.
The day this post came up I was thinking.
Is it worth porting the oldies?
Probably not if hired out.
In that case, when is your new sawmill supposed to show up? Got any good saw logs lined up to turn into cants for your GTG?If a thread didn't get derailed, I'd become bored with all the saw talk.
About two weeks from the day I ordered it is what they say.In that case, when is your new sawmill supposed to show up? Got any good saw logs lined up to turn into cants for your GTG?
I got a whole pile of oak, ash, and cottonwood to saw up down at my parent’s place…been too darn busy to get down there. Hopefully I can take the kids down for a sawmill day before the end of September.About two weeks from the day I ordered it is what they say.
I'll buy the cants rather than saw up my good logs. The poplar I have is going to be sawn for framing, fencing, and trim lumber.
I don't have a single log on the ground yet !!!I got a whole pile of oak, ash, and cottonwood to saw up down at my parent’s place…been too darn busy to get down there. Hopefully I can take the kids down for a sawmill day before the end of September.
Well, you got less than two weeks, lol.I don't have a single log on the ground yet !!!
The saw in this thread has put a few on the ground, sure it could drop those too if needed.I don't have a single log on the ground yet !!!
I'm actually thinking mostly about setting up the mill in a way that I won't end up hating it later.Well, you got less than two weeks, lol.
Hello Brian. If my memory is to be trusted, I built this saw for you didn't I?The saw in this thread has put a few on the ground, sure it could drop those too if needed.
Hullo Randy
Blue oil is more gooder.Besides it’s cleaning abilities & obviously it’s lubrication characteristics, I like Red Armor because it doesn’t smell like a burning water bottle full of cat piss when you run it.
Ammmm, Stihl Synthetic.
Yes sir.I'm actually thinking mostly about setting up the mill in a way that I won't end up hating it later.

That is a good plan. We ended up building a 30’x50’ shed for mine, but it needed to be in order to house the husk & the entire track. Being that the frame is wood and that it is 80 years old, I didn’t want it being exposed to the elements. Nice to keep the sun & rain off you while sawing too.I'm actually thinking mostly about setting up the mill in a way that I won't end up hating it later.
I was planning on putting it in the old chicken house....but I think I'll put it over here closer to the house. 30x16 would be plenty big enough. That is a good plan. We've never had AC in our house.Put it close to the house. You'll want to be able to take breaks in the AC!
