Running the 238 cylinder with a 242 crank. The crank is 3mm longer. Will have better rod ratio. It will dwell a little longer on TDC and BDC.

Also because finding a 242XP top end is more or less impossible for a sensible price.

Well I learned something new today! I had always assumed the 234/238/242/246 saws shared the same crankshaft.

Probably the same stroke, like the 254 versus 257 and 262. Just longer rod. Most only look at the stroke and assume it’s in the same case so it has the same crank

Same stroke but conrod is different length.

just a little info on 242 cranks there 3 different cranks they are all a little wider as they get younger
meaning older cranks are thinner bearing to bearing and there are different cases to fit such cranks too
that why you see v 1,2,3 on cases

Still looking for a 242XP cylinder. May buy a AM one but food prices and inflation is sky high atm.

And the Swedish krona (SEK) is also getting more worthless everyday so imported goods get more expensive.

Asked the owner and he said he doesnt know. I'll see when it arrives.

Golf is trash. Crooked wrist pin bores, shallow circlip notches, uneven skirts. No experience with Api. I would use Farmertec before Golf.
