It does some weird stuff .Like deteriorate from the inside out .Like for example an aluminum storm door in contact with concrete the outside looks fine but the inside has rotted like it has metal termites . The inside portion of my avatar saw ,the cover of the oil tank of all things had damage inside . Aluminum ,mag ,zinc are known as sacrificing metals .They go to the dogs before other metals do thus in a way protecting them . The plating that cover certain pistons is on there for two reasons .First the plating grabs oil better than bare aluminum plus it protects from galvanic reaction between dissimilar metals .Now as with a lot of babbling I know more than most people about metallurgy but I'm dang sure not an expert .

Quite a few places I've worked had an opinion of not storing batteries for equipment on concrete believing that it would drain them.
If I did store saws on concrete I'd just get a nice dyi epoxy floor kit and problem solved.

Aluminum can do some odd things .Like if it's in open air the oxide forms which is about like glass and protects it .On say front covers which hold the timing chains on automotive engines just about weld themselves to the studs making it next to impossible to remove the covers . However on aluminum blocks from my limited experience don't seize up .Same metal I suppose except the steel bolts . It transfers heat fast and makes a fairly good electrical conductor .Not as good as copper but less expensive regarding ampacity .

Update: The company I bought the saw from (Chainsawr) is sending out another tank. The owner said he selected the best they had and mailed it this morning. I’ve enjoyed their web sight now for about two years and ordered several parts too. I’m really happy they validated the good vibes I’ve had for them. They are good folks.
