Recently picked up a Jolly Star, and am fumbling my way through getting used to using it.
First thing I noticed was that moving from a left hand cutter to a right hand, I need to make a big adjustment to my chain stop. Otherwise the right cutter gets a lot shorter. Oops. (That one being short wont hurt anything....) I'm sure Ill figure out the best approach after some more usage.
Bigger thing/question for you users here. Has anyone found a better handle that will easily bolt up? The little plastic one that it comes with feels pretty flimsy to me, and its not a great feel in my hand. From reading a little on this thread I saw some folks have machined something up, but I don't have those kinda tools/skills, so am looking for an off the shelf or option I can go buy somewhere. Just wasn't sure if someone else has already been down this road and had a good suggestion.

I made one from an old wooden pferd file handle that was all wallered out and wouldn't hold a file any longer.Thank you for the link!
Any one specifically that anyone has used? I wonder if a beer tap handle would work with the right threaded inserts/adapter...
I move the chain stop forward slightly and grind again on 3/8 chain whenI have an Oregon 520 grinder but that pic is jug from the guys site to give you and idea…damn thing works great and he makes them on the side….i got the cbn wheel and the 45 degree jig….works way better than the silvey 450 I got….and I’m not new to grinders I have the Oregon 520, Stihl usg (cbn wheels for all), and the silvey 450 a few months ago (haven’t spent to much time with her yet)….but the square jig does as good of a chain as I have seen with any high dollar square grinder…
I do my 3/8 and .325 chain on it and I love it….i used to sharpen the public’s chains so all my grinders and cbn wheels were paid for in profit….so if i remember correctly it was 300 or so for the jig and cbn wheel…I love it!!!
