They won't do it. You can use a drill to reverse it also.
I like the switch better.

It's a safety issue - if the grinding wheel explodes rotating up, towards you, you are going to have a bad day.

Some older grinder models had this feature. I believe that it is currently prohibited by UL, OSHA, etc.

Its a safety issue due to the sparks and chaff going directly into the operator
