Not a good pic but it's all I have for now
(no pic!)
philbert
There are a few guys who have shaped a pink wheel for grinding rakers. They shape it in a way to get a curved profile with a slight angle just as you would find on many stock chains. I don't care to much about it and grind them at 10 degrees and I'm done.I will say that you can take advantage of the fact that you can dress the wheel profile how ever you want it.....
I did a little experimenting with the wheel shape myself....when I dressed the wheel for a chisel chain, I profiled the bottom of the wheel a little more square than round.....I know for a fact it produced great results because it was my chain.....
@Philbert have you or any other of you guys played with the wheel profile shape any????
If so what did you do and what were your results??????
1/4" wheel is primarily used for depth gauges, but the 5/16 can also be used for 3/4" pitch chain - I like it for depth gauges due to the wider profile.Ya they did send me a bigger wheel that I will never use, I shapes it for rakers...... however on my personal chains u usually file them off at 0-10 degrees like you said and be done with it....
Is it a lower hernia?Well guys I will have a lot of time to get all my chains (and friends chains) sharpened here this month or next....I got bad news Friday and found out I have a damn hernia..... I don't know how I got along all these 31 years without one until now, but at any rate I do.....they are acting like I may have to get it operated on, and possible down time of 4-6 weeks....I can't believe it.....my supervisor said look at it as a vacation til spring, well easier said then done!!!!!
I have been ordering parts for saws I am goin to rebuild while I am "down", and hopefully I get some more customers that want their chains sharpened........
Made me a stand for my HOS. Pretty pleased with the way it turned out. Old girl still works pretty good. I'll definitely be getting a CBN wheel soon.
Very nice, that chain will flat out cut!!!!!!!
How long have you been using that grinder????
I will say, you will love the CBN.....I still use the stone wheels, especially when cleaning out a bad gullet....
I remember when I was "against grinders" lol..... then I got one and realized that you can turn out a GREAT chain with them, IF you put in effort to learn how to set them up/use them!!!!I have had it about three years, but haven't used it in about a year because I thought I was gonna have to move and packed a lot of chainsaw stuff up. Things changed and just recently got it back out. I bought it used off AS if I remember correctly. It's not in pristine condition by any means, but it is very well built and parts are still available if needed.
Hey that's a good old grinder I bet!!!!!I've gotta' Foley, had it for so long I can't remember the model #...it's a very well built unit, BUT, it is not "symetric". That's saying you gotta set it up for leftt/right each time.
have had it probably near 20 years with no troubles.
Oh I meant to ask you, have you had a lower hernia like I have..... just wondering how the surgery went for you if ou did!?!?Is it a lower hernia?
Yes sir. Two. And go thru the belly button. Be back grinding in no time.Oh I meant to ask you, have you had a lower hernia like I have..... just wondering how the surgery went for you if ou did!?!?
I had a buddy stop by that had a hernia by his belly button, he said the surgery wasn't bad, but her was out of work for 4-6 damn weeks!!!!!
So we're both of yours the "lower" kind.....do they cut you for that kind....Yes sir. Two. And go thru the belly button. Be back grinding in no time.
If they cut ya. You down long time.
