Shopping in Wally World  and thought I would check which canned fuels they have on hand. Turns out the top shelf stuff is VP Fuel. Went to check the oil ratio and all it says is for saws requiring 50:1 or 40:1... :eusa_doh:
Anyone have any idea what the real oil ratio is in this stuff? Doubt I will give it a try considering I just picked up some Yamalube 2R...

Info on this fuel: It's 50:1

Designed as a single use treatment, Fix-It Fuel is an ETHANOL-FREE 89 Octane gas + oil blend. Although mixed with oil at 50:1, it works in any 2 & 4 cycle small engine application. Fortified with Mechanic In A Bottle, it cleans and repairs the fuel system without having to remove the carburetor or injectors, avoiding costly repairs and downtime.

Why can't they just say it's 50:1...
I'm guessing because it's manufactured to fix or clean fuel systems in gasoline engines, rather than be used as a 2 stroke fuel. The regular VP mixed fuel doesn't say "mechanic in a bottle" on it

I would like to find more of the 89 octane stuff without that mechanic in a bottle.

You can always justify another saw.

Even, " John Boy and Billy" promote the "mechanic in a bottle" stuff. How can it not be good?

Saw a can of TruFuel today at HD for4-stroke engines. Slightly less than a gallon (110 ounces?).

Confused me at first, but I guess 4-stroke folks want ethanol free fuel as well?

Some of the four stroke carbs have reed valve diaphragms similar to two stroke pump diaphragms and others have tiny black rubber O-rings that keep the emulsion tube in place. Then there's the valve seats. The diaphragm gets stiff, the O-rings and seats turn to mush.
Then the ethanol sitting in the float bowl let's the water settle on the bottom which allows corrosion to clog the jet screw.

This is the stuff I saw:
Screen shot 2016-05-29 at 3.23.50 PM.png

First thought that I had to overcome: "Oh, it's that 50:1 mix for 2-cycle engines!" (It's not)
Second thought that I had to overcome: "Oh, $19.95 per gallon is a better price than $5.95 a quart!" It works out to about the same cost, since this is not a full gallon (only about 85% of a gallon).

*Take time to read the labels!*

How much was it? I've not seen that size jugs here at home. I want the lowest octane I can get.
