I started doing less to the mufflers because of noise. I never really noticed a decrease in power due to it either. I'd give up a little in cut speed to keep the noise down though. Yeah........I'm getting old.

The beauty of the saws I build is there stronger with a small opening and the screen. Also the least I can do to a muffler the better. Mufflers deal in misery

That MS 390 you did for me hurts my ears. If I'm cutting with a neighbor, I let him use that saw, and have him block wood on the far side of the swale from me. I've been thinking of putting a stock muffler back on it. Thoughts?

A 390 stock muffler is very restrictive.

I have both. The fullcomp pulls better noodling but the skip feels faster and clears noodles better but I havent time to see the real difference. I like the self feeding of the fullcomp alil better but I have to hold the back of the saw up in the air alil more to clear noodles compared to the skip. I wanna get an old cover and clip the back off

Husky does have a wide clutch cover. I have one on my 371 and will be getting one for my 385! Here is were I got mine from.
