That does it, 660's are the greatest saws ever built! Everybody should sell their inferior off breads and buy a 066/660/661 from Jason! Lol!

It's OK you don't have to like a 066 same as I don't have to like a 390.
I like a 394 and 395 a lot,just don't like a 390.

To me if you are talking about buying a new stock big saw and looking for the most powerful one then a 661 or a 395 is the best choices.

You say a 661 is a junker because of a really fast saw whipped them a few years ago,I'm saying I don't like a 390 after being a saw porter for 10 years and running lots of them.
You have 2 husky's I ported, based on how they run do you think my 390 would be a turd?

I'll take a saw that starts and runs all day over one that's half a second faster in a cookie. Using a OPE commercially day in day out changes your priorities a little as far as what you like. It takes me about a year to decide whether I really like a OPE product. Nothing worse than fighting with your tools on a job site period. Not being able to finish a job due to a piece of OPE leaves a bitter taste in your mouth about it. Saws, brush cutters, sprayers, blowers pole saws/hedgetrimmers, mowers and stuff that stays out of workshops and on job sites earning money are you friends.

It has been my experience that any saw can be a runner, sometimes the factory just gets one cylinder "right" by accident. Had that happen with an 029 Super that I rebuilt years ago with an OEM MS390 top end, only mod that thing got was a basic muffler mod and that thing just plain hauled the mail, would easily run with any 60cc pro saw.

390 makes a fast cant saw I'm talking about a woods ported saw.
When I run yours I'll have a new way of thinking I hope.

Like I said,I don't like the saw not how the saw runs,I'm can build a strong 390 also
But the 066 I build now are so much stronger than they were a year ago they can't be compared.

I think Mike Lee has noticed the same thing I have

The average woods ported 390 will usually beat the average ported 660. I've only built 2 or 3 66s that I know will beat my normal 390 port job. The 660 I have now was built just for smaller stuff with no thought of ever taking it into the woods.

Again I'll say that I don't like a 390 because of the way they feel not how they run. Same with a 372.

The only spring saw I like is a 661 or the 94/5.

I would also like to think my 066 not 660 because there is a difference, are above average so with a 36" I think it's going to take a above average 390 to beat one.

I'm porting a 066 killing 394 right now.

When both were new on the shelf of a dealer a ported 390 cost what a stock 660 did. Now with the 661 the 390 is still the same price. I don't have enough run time on a 661 to really say if I like it or not. It feels about like a 390 to me with the spring AV.

I think a 661 is more solid feeling where a 390 is soft.
Log for a while and the saw you get use to is what you are going to like.
I'm sure the guys that fall with a 390 think a 660 feel terrible.

Im just the opposite with my 390. If I used it to buck Id rather a 661. Johns 661c with a 32 es light balanced unbelievable but for noodling Id take my 390 with 404.

You sure do a lot of noodling. Lol

I'm basing everything on falling and not cutting wood or noodling or cutting cookies. With the saw on its side I prefer a stiff saw.

I am in complete agreement. My big saw now is MMWS 390xp. Had a 395 MMWS for many years (which was stupid strong) also, but found the 390 much easier to tote around. Tested Cutting speed was nearly the same in wood up to 32" or so which is about as big as a want to go. Should I ever need It I'm pretty confident that 390 could pull a 42" skip without complaint. This is why I looking forward to a spicy super Mike 385 in the near future.

Sold the 395.

This years firewood: 42" at the base. 390 went through and blocked up this tree 16 inches at a time in about an hour. Sure it could've been faster, but I took a number of breaks.then came the hard part of hauling it out of there and filling the trucks and trailers. Good times!

36" bar in the cut" may have been 48" @ the base...
