Finally had some time to pull the jug on the black Friday blue g288.
Glancing in from the muffler at first, didn't seem too bad, I was hopeful. But that hope was short lived.
Squish with gasket was .039, compression cold was only 135.
You should email farmertech a picture of your cylinder and request a replacement, looks like the plating is off ? Can't hurt to try anyway.

Ouch, I believe that's the worst I've seen yet and I thought mine looked bad.

How much run time is on the saw?

Those pictures are thumbs down worthy.

0 runtime, pulled the jug to see what it looked like and wash out the case while it was off. Squish seemed tight enough that maybe a bgd and break in would get it.
Will see after cleaning it up a Lil if it feels OK, but gonna send the email and cross my fingers.
I did get this saw with the intent to practice grinding and had low expectations.

Getting replacements from farmertec is like pulling teeth. Slow and painful but it can be done. I tried to get them to replace a leaking fuel cap that came with my 660 kit. They wanted a video of it leaking.

When I got my second blue G372 ( not the xp) it had the "BB Italian " 48mn cylinder on it , I just gave it to someone after they wore out their original blue 372xp. The bb cylinder didn't look bad at all ? Not what I'd call performance but not bad.
That 288xp cylinder is about one of the worst I've seen! Has to have been a reject , looks nothing like the one I pulled off my orange 288.

Made some time today to get some ugly grinding in. Taking a picture really shows where I screwed up.
Intake and exhaust still need a bit of love, but I might be able to Yolo this jug for a bit while waiting on another to come in.

I threw that 372 cylinder above in the trash, looking at the pic on the right side it looks like they ground the plating off. I have a white box cylinder that doesn't look to bad to play around with. It has the highest squish I seen in these. .065 without the base gasket.

Gotcha, my thought process was maybe they built the cylinder for an out of spec piston.
Could be, I got a farmertec ms260 cylinder kit and the piston was out of spec. The dome in the center was the same height as OEM but the edge of the crown was half of the thickness down to the top ring.

@Czed When you start messing with those Farmmacs, you might want to check the tank vents, both the Farmmac and Neotec leak like crazy on their side. I'm going to put some Echo style vents on them. Also mine wanted a lot of timing advance, On the Farmmac I'm on half a key and I think it could do with some more. I saw a video by Novice Lumberjack, not sure if that name is correct of the black 372 Farmmac and he was saying the same about the timing. These really are low quality sh*t saws.

Thanks for the information. It will definitely keep me from buying one. I certainly don't need any more saws, but you know how that goes.

I have one of their 660s and I didn't have any problems with it that I remember so it might just be the 372s.
