I'm thinking I should probably get some more while the gettin is good, I think I'm gonna order a 1/2 dozen spares for my other saw

A secret squirrel sent me the parts to finish the 257 I put the 262 Amazon cylinder kit on
Nos intake manifold,gaskets,sticker and air dam
I heat cycled it and tuned it on wood
It's a strong little sawfeels about a pound lighter than a 266xp

Cheapest MS361 muffler on Amazon. A much simpler(and less restrictive) design than the OEM or Farmertec copy. In retrospect the cylinder shaped baffle could be removed or drilled out WITHOUT separating the two muffler halves.

It even comes with a couple of gills.

Baffle removed. Used a couple spare bolts to keep the innards aligned while crimping it back together.

Stock outlet opened up.

Ordered a couple of pairs of the Hipa chains for the pole trimmer. Less than 10 bucks for a pair delivered, good price IMO.

Getting Hipa ads on my phone now. They pronounce it "high" , rather than the "hip" I've been thinking.

Other than chains I did buy a Hipa starter recoil assembly for my gx390 and it lasted a few weeks like the nameless starter I put on before that. Handle broke and the cord came off the reel in the housing, goosing it all up.

I just use the old cord with no recoil and no housing on it. Really old school lol

Fixed three *s-word saws today these dogshit saws don't compare at all to that 257/262
Heavy underpowered saws
The only thing good about them is the new style starter handle
Three for three on the am carbs all tuned in just fine.

That rancher he told me only needed carb and fuel lines
Sounded like a dodge with 80k miles
He gave it to me for some reason
I ordered a duke's popup for it.

I'm 4 for 4 on am carbs
After I rebuilt this 272 the original carb fought me wouldn't stay tuned and I didn't have a good extra carb so I bought a 10.00 am carb
It has a narrow tuning range on the low side but
Tuned in great and holds it's tune.
That hipa 20" full chisel cuts great no chatter in hardwood.

I put a 10.00 Amazon china carb kit In it
Very uncomfortable trimmers but the guy likes it.

I resold some of my hipa chains to a logger
That paid for all of my chains plus more I ordered.
