I bought one last fall...
It lasted 1.5 tanks before it seized up on e-free @40:1
I sold it cheap.... without even taking it apart.

The guy that bought it started a warranty claim and they ended up sending him a new p&c kit.

I know of two people that have torn into these particular saws and discovered the intake gasket was not cut out for the strato port.
I was at a husky dealer yesterday
529.00 for one of those little baby saws
Didn't seem any lighter than a 346
I don't see the need for that size.

Saw looked like it ran rich for a bit. Plating and cross hatch looking good. Transfers hardly would be described as artistic, but it works.

I was given another oem 288 cylinder
This one's a non decomp
I might get one of those 288 clones and run it against a oem and see how much difference there is in performance
Might add a popup piston to see what the difference is.

Thanks I got 8 more full chisel 84dls on the way

I got these off eBay yesterday has the old lubridot style links
It cut as good as any out of the box chain
Almost every saw I get in has trashed chains especially tree service or logger guy's
So I'll throw a fresh loop to test the saws and tune them
They always buy the chains from me
For 10.00 instead of 40.00 for Stihl at the local dealer.
I sold around 50 20" upstart 72dl to a firewood seller over the year's
That was around 400.00 instead of over 1200.00 at the dealer
They've held up great for us.

Ewww, semi-chisel!

How does the chain hold up? Does it stretch much? I was a fan of archer chain until the second sharpening and it was so stretched I was going to have to take a link out of it.

I really like a good 40cc saw for all the little cedar we cut around here....but I'm not very impressed with the 543xp and definitely not with the clone version....
I'll take a Stihl 241 or husky 242/246

It stretches a bit initially and seems to have good metal
But if course each batch can be different
I still don't think Oregon or Stihl is 3 time's better chain given the cost.
The hipa chain I ordered is full chisel 84 dl

The little mail girl said wtf is in this package when she hoisted it onto the counter
I said since you didn't leave this in my mailbox I had to drive 20 miles to the post office you should carry it to my truck
She declined
I asked If she had specialized training with dealing with kickback
She did not.

Have you cut with any of the hipa chain?
I ordered a pile of em when I saw your post over on AS...
It's really low cost, so not much risk anyways.

Not yet but like nearly all china chain I've tried archer,upstart,longer,8ten, holzfforma and generic eBay chain the components look nearly identical maybe with different blueing and some have the lubridot style linksIMG_20230414_202920193_HDR.jpg
Archer on top hipa on bottom
With 6% sales tax 14 stihl 84dl locally would have been around 593.60
Instead of the 80.00 I paid
I'll get by just fine
Are they the best no
they stretch and may be softer or harder than the big 2
But they have been alright by me i cut a lot of fence line and residential tree's not much loss on a 8-10.00 chain
Tell me if it works out for you.

Was that a dealer waiver, or was it a Stihl deal? Incredible amount of fear instilled in those poor guys by the mother ship.
No idea I signed mine Gaston caperton or whoever was the wv governer back then in the 90s
Stihl didn't check driver's licenses then I don't know about now.

Yup, I'll report back after we use em.
Around here, most of our chains end up getting rocked.... no way I'm paying Stihl prices to saw rocks.
At 5 dollars a chain I'll just toss em if these get rocked.

I supply chains for a firewood seller those upstart chains they used to be 5.00 a loop of 72dl full chisel shipped
He bought 50 and would bring me piles of them to resharpen
I charged 4.00 per chain.
He ran a 372 I rebuilt 8 year's ago he's still at it but finally got himself a grinder and does his own chains after I showed him how
He's made bank off those chains over the year's.

The cutters are definitely better formed than the Archer I got in the past. The skip tooth I ordered doesn't have the bumper links .
