They sound like dogs when I've seen them run. Big, heavy, slow. But I'm sure a few of you guys here could give one a boot in the arse and wake it up.
They pull long bars though. More torque than HP. LOL
Good to know. I have yet to see one of any sort that ran worth a crap. Always seemed under achievers. I know they can ravage a rain forest (eventually).I think many have been tuned incorrectly over the years, not tuned to 11,000rpm governor disconnected as per full service manual.
Peak power is 7000rpm, where it should be cutting, so if it sounds like a complete turd it ain’t right.
Even tuned right they’re turds. But cool turds.I think many have been tuned incorrectly over the years, not tuned to 11,000rpm governor disconnected as per full service manual.

Dual 661’s were 3x faster (and 3x lighter) than dual 090’s milling red elm in PA
Well I did say cool turds.Well of course they are turds to a 661, they are a 1960s Model saw.
Chain was fine for what I was doing it's a hardnose bar the chain does that gets loose fast under stress just part of running a hardnose bar.Nice.
Tighten your chain up a bit. Lol
I hear that White Knuckle Guy can really wake them up! [emoji16]
Were you running .404?
Oh you mean Tony yeah I'm not really in the ported saw seen stock with a good chain is fine for me occasionally I might attack one with a Dremal and I hate loud exhausts lolWhite Knuckle Work Saws
Or positive intake pressureSo moral of the story is... there IS a replacement for displacement. It’s called technology.![]()
12 or 13 are SAE HPYeah that would suck not a cheap saw now days seen one here sell for over 4k awhile ago was new I think from memory.
Mines stock no port work some say 9hp some say 12 or 13hp never really found the truth on what they are?
