I think the 462 will still have more horsepower, maybe even more peak torque. But somewhere in there, the flatter torque curve of the 500i should show on the dyno. My 462’s do not like 36” of .404 but the 500 pulled it with ease

Since the first pair didn't arrive together, these are going to cut the line.

Both ported.

Any interest?

I'm seriously interested to see the graph for these two! I've just got a 500i and would love to see the gains over stock.

This might be the Achilles Heel of a DYNO.
The dyno can't really simulate bar and chain combos. But it is cool nonetheless.

I did the 500i. Redfin did the 462

It can only tell the attitude of the saw. Once we know how to interpret the graphs, we should have an idea of how they’ll cut

Yeah, but there's no replacement for displacement. And like everyone says the 500i pulls the long bar. That's work. Work=HP. Of course it may be neither, but 4 hours is just long enough I'm guessing it's the 500i.

Displacement usually matters but... it depends imo. Look at the size of the transfer ports on a 372 and a 461.... one kinda small sized opening on the lowers, that feeds 4 ports on the 461 vs two huge well shaped openings on each side that feed 4 ports on the 372. I think that’s partly why a 372 is very hard to beat even with larger 70cc saws. Just a good porting design. A 7900 or 460/461 barely beats one and it takes a big bar and aggressive chain to do it. Shorter than a 28”... you better have a very good 70cc saw to beat a 372 50mm speed wise. Too bad the epa regulations killed the 372 design... it was a good one for making power.
