I would like to also see the powerhead weight for comparison, as weight also matters.

Also, if a TM 066 (or one built similarly) could be thrown into the mix, that would make it very interesting.
Yea let’s weigh saws again, that hasn’t ever been done a hundred F** king times already!!

You all are too kind.

No really....

Give me 3 things I could do better for the next one

#2 from me. You did say something about the lighting. It matters little (to none) to most everybody on the planet, including me. Hopefully some of our resident photographers will jump in. Professional lighting is obvious when you see the examples side by side. Here is something you might try. There may be something cheaper, there is definitely more expensive options.

#3 from me. I would change your background sign to have your website on it; for example, "www.worksaws.com" instead of just "worksaws". Put a sticker on your dyno bar so your business logo/website is always in view. Get some hats and shirts made for your videos. Brainwashing works, lol

I think what you are doing is great for the chainsaw community, no reason not to profit from it if you want to

Cutting weight with a full tank of gas/oil and a bar/chain mounted are something that’s more realistic than the factory specs that have a dry stripped down saw with no clutch cover or spikes. Something to keep in mind… if weights are within a pound or so… whoever has a lighter bar is going to have the lighter saw. Sometimes balance and ergonomics can also lead to one saw being more comfortable to use. Variables. Something that’s just part of life and further complicates it. Lol

All different ways of looking at things, which is OK. I get that you would want a saw that balances the size bar you want to use.

But if a 462 is the same weight as many 60 cc saws, then why should it only be compared to other 70 cc saws???

If price is not your only consideration, it could retire a lot of 60 cc saws.

Someone should start a chainsaw weights and measurements YouTube channel.....

Thankfully there are threads about powerhead and bar weight, but new products come out all the time, and it is nice to know the real specs which are sometimes different than the advertised specs (which is why we dyno stock saws).

Bar weight can make a huge difference in how a saw feels, and just because it says "Light" does not mean it really is!

My 28" light Sugi bar is far heavier than my 28" Stihl Light bars. As a result, the Sugi goes on the 460 and the Hybrids get Stihl Light bars.

We have dyno threads and weight threads because marketing and fact are not often the same thing.
I think most folks understand this. Yeah, you'll get a few folks that need to try and prove they are men to strangers on the internet for some reason and act like weight doesn't matter. It is a chainsaw forum after all...
But weight always matters when you have to hold the damn thing in your hands for hours at a time.
You would be insane for using a 70cc saw that weighed like a 94cc saw. Without weight - displacement means nothing.
As for bars, just like with saws, it's not just the weight, but the build. Some say Stihl lightweights will dent and bend if you hurt their feelings. Some folks are OK with it, some like to muscle their saws a lot. Some folks destroy SugiHara bars, which are rather very hard. It seems unlikely these folks would do better with a Stihl lightweight - they likely should go with something more flexible like an Oregon, etc. I had an oregon LW bend so much it launched a saw into what Jeff Bezos would call orbit. Not a freaking scratch on it(the saw need some work, tho). Different strokes for different folks.
But if you are in the position to choose your equipment for work, knowing as much as you can about them seems like a good idea.

I like tsumura bars both normal solid versions and reduced weight versions. It’s all I run on the huskys I use at work. Good bar for the $. But that’s a whole other discussion. But it relates to the topic of powerhead weight. A bar can drastically change a saws handling and even how it cuts.

The reason I made the comment earlier is because this is a Dyno thread and it would be nice to not have it sidetracked into 10 Different Variables.

You are correct, but he was asking for suggestions. So I offered a suggestion, it was not a demand.

One could argue that lighting as nothing to do with dyno #s either, but I think it was a constructive suggestion.

I guess we all have our personal preferences, which is OK.

I like his thread, and he can run it however he chooses.

And if anyone knows the weight of a current production 462 they can PM me so they don't disturb this thread.

Mine are both early ones, and they are nice and light.

Does it work well with engine noises? Would really like to show off the sound of some of these ported saws...
It's an omnidirectional microphone so it could definitely work, but it's made more for voice. With decibels that high you'd likely have to manually set the audio levels/gain to get the best sound without clipping. This might be a better option for what you're doing.https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...xIxqWExSozCvcxoClAIQAvD_BwE&lsft=BI:514&smp=y

The clip on wireless systems are great for voice as it gives you freedom of movement without a drop in sound levels. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to clutter this thread up.
