I can still see dozens of arguments and exclusions in that.
It means 365's compete against 60cc's, 357's go up against 346's and on and on...
In racing it means the majority of saw models are rendered non competitive.

To be inclusive and invite a variety of competition you're going to have to get very creative.

Bottom line though, you can't win here...

A truer measure of a saws performance would be if they where broken down by weight.

A short summery of where this is today.

Once I receive feedback I will make a more detailed video on the dyno/process.
In the first 25 seconds (the pull), if I had to critique, I'd say don't cover up you or the saw. It's cool to see how you make the run and sweep the saws rpm. Then I already mentioned the music on the book of faces. :headbang:

I guess the crappy music was copyright. So I found some even more questionable royalty free stuff lol

The those big saws will likely suck up all the water the town drinks from and turn it into a lake of relaxing hot tub water :D

No lie... little rusty with taking 4 weeks off and have a touch of baby brain...

The first 45 min I was trying to troubleshoot the dyno.

Turned out to be a partial kink in the hose.

Dennis wanted to try a muffler mod for his 2 month old Stihl 661.

The muffler mod sure made some torque.

They were talking about West Coast Saw or Straight Shot muffler covers.

I told them to save their money and work with the factory muffler.

I found no difference in power with just the muffler cover removed. Just a lot more noise.

This means the internal baffle is the restrictive issue.

They will be going to the bush next week to test the muffler. :D

Who leaves the internal baffle in?

I don’t leave any baffles in the mufflers either :D. My dyno says so.

When I watch videos of people buying muffler covers for their saw, that’s pretty much all they change.

They attempt several cuts of wood and think they feel some gains.

If the saw is louder, it should be performing better in their mind.

One such video that I watched was a comparison between stock, WCS, and Straight Shot. The stock muffler beat both aftermarket covers.

The person doing the comparison was disappointed as he liked the looks of the covers but said they weren’t worth the $80 and the ridiculous noise they make.

The key words that was advertised? The covers were extensively dyno tested and proven to increase performance.

But I haven’t heard anyone in the video talk about the internal baffle.

So $80 is wasted unless the person is told or figures out that the internal baffle must be removed to get that performance.

Here’s a link to one video:
