Don't bother. If the tool doesn't have a suction cup on one end, I don't know how to use it.

This jug was a freebie I got in a box with other parts. It went on this saw because I didn't know what was going to happen.

ok, so cylinder is basically good enough for now. on to linkage… i got a little excited with this combo cuz i thought i might be able to make stock 346 throttle rod work, this is it, upside down, and its in the neighborhood.

had to grind some stuff out that didnt need to be there.

and then broke that throttle rod trying to re bend it…so i used some “music wire” to make a new linkage.


these z-bend pliers are very handy for this type of thing.

one thing i had to overcome for this step was the ferocious throttle return spring. the smaller throttle wire wanted to bend rather than push on throttle crank. so i just mangled it a bit and got it to swing around about 1/2 turn so it now has much less tension. first pic shows the corner where the bend in the spring used to sit, second pic shows its new location.

ok so some may have noticed that some pics showed some plumbing work on the carb. the ws10 fuel barb comes straight out the side, but for this application it needed to have a 90* back orientation.
ill just pull that barb out.

edit: this pic does show a nice flat spot on transfer tunnel that will be made useful shortly.

ok so, i tried some heat next time (good thing i had two carbs eh?)
no worries.
this pic also shows this slotted brass plug that contains the “flood” governor, which is just what it sounds like. this is easily defeated by a hollow punch of the appropriate size out of whatever metal beverage can you have handy, placed underneath that brass plug.

not sure all the applications for the ws10 but these came on partner s65s. one thing i didnt mention that was also a consideration for choosing this carb was the size. choke/venturi/throttle bores are very similar to wj carbs. they were pretty darn big for a 4 cube saw so im thinkin itll be plenty for this 3 cube.

next was figgerin on the impulse situation. this carb originally got the pulse through a solid intake block. since thats not an option here i drilled through this spot. saw it in a cartoon once so im pretty sure itll work.

while i had the epoxy mixed up i used some to plug the old hole that delivered pulse from intake block.

put this guy in place of the brass one i pulled, also drilled barbed side out quite a bit, cant recall exactly what it was, went from i think #44 drill size to ##38. part that went into carb was already about #38 sized anyway, so no restrictions there now.
