Did you have a bar and chain on it? 395 will rub if tight with no barWhat would cause the clutch drum to rub the cover ?

Bad clutch drum bearing or worn bearing surface in the drum are my first thoughtsWhat would cause the clutch drum to rub the cover ?

That brown piece you see is just a plastic dust cover .Looks like maybe the wrong oil pump worm gear. The worm gears usually sit almost flush with the oil pump body. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a brown worm gear on a 288. From what I remember they are usually black. View attachment 451911
Oh, that's right, you tried that am clutch.Well too it all apart and I'm sure the oiler is engaged and still have the same issue ?
