Quick question, I'm mounting a 28" 3003 bar on my 288, how many drive links do I need, saw has a 8pin on it, and standard chain won't fit
Lay the D009 (Large Husky) bar on top of the D025 (large Stihl) lining up the adjuster holes, you can trace the D009 slot length on the D025 bar with a sharpie. Lengthen slot to the sharpie line, and the standard Husky DL chains with the appropriate bar adapter will work just fine. I used a drill and a file, took like 15 minutes tops. If you don’t want to modify the bar, you need to add 1 additional DL to use a large Stihl bar on a large Husky saw.

So what's the deal with these starter pulleys ?
Same part numbers but why the different number of lines?
Mine doesn't have any lines on it ..

I've given up on these things trying to go by pt# . I have 4, same 1024#, that are 4 different heights. Geeze...
I now label them by height in mm.
All the AM ones are 10 24-05, like the current Brazil made saws have. All are too tall for early models, 266, 288, etc.

I'm gonna have to measure the height and try and match it up that way .
I just checked mine and it has one line ....I originally thought it didn't so I don't know if that means anything as far as fitment???

Aaand why I've given up on the numbers.
I've seen 1024-01 through -05, all different heights.

4.5 I used just looked , but its what works depends on if you have a decomp or not , I have a non decomp XS 288 and hasn’t broken yet, View attachment 448910
decomp is cheating. Mine broke on the first outing but I think I screwed up installing it in the first place. Replace it with a 5 which was closer to the NOS recoils I have from the larger, old saws.

5mm wont work or the rope would be too short to pull. You can try a stihl elast start from the 660. NOT the one from 462's. The oem rope from my 3120 is the same as the one from 372 which is very dense. Older husky use rope that tends to fray and not so dense.

Anybody have any rubber AV mounts sitting around? I think I'm going to go all rubber on my new-to-me 288 Lite.

Yep. I prefer sproings if you'd part with some. @Stump Shot put snubbers or limiters instead of mounts in the front of one and I like it.
