Not to mention the throttle arm is broke off!
Yea, there are some problems with the listing and I can use my throttle arm if needed.
If I get a good tank I'll be happy.
The title says "Husqvarna Genuine OEM Part Tank Cpl 501809105"
That's got to mean something.
Will post the outcome of this.

Stumpshot hooked me up with a cherry KS 281 jug. Super thankful to find such a rare gem. Did some horse traden with dave and getting one of those wiseco pistons for it, the 1.2 mm ring version. Trying that with a dp muffler for now. Best 281 I've ran had a ks jug and a 181 thin ring piston in it, I hope the single 1.2 ring will be close to duplicating that saw

Nope, just my puny port job which is just a little mod to the intake port, open the exhaust up and base gasket delete.

Take a look at how wide the piston windows are and how wide the lowers compare.

So i need to order a Meteor piston for my 281, seems the 52mm pistons i find online all quote a different part number.
Were there just different part numbers or did the part itself change over time.piston is needed for this saw.

I found an oem piston cheap on ebay by searching the part number. Can't remember what that number was.

So what is that supposed to tell me?

Once you take a look at it and compare you will see the Wiseco is a full circle piston, the entire fuel charge has to go through the windows. So, do you want the fuel/air mix to hit the cylinder wall and then bend around or go straight into the transfer tunnel?

Thanks for that, when i said numbers i meant husqvarna part numbers, ive seen atleast 5 different part numbers for the 281 piston

It went through some changes over time. There was a full circle version early on. Different rings etc. and so on.
Look at the newest IPL for the latest version.

Well running it daily now, and it's just as strong if not stronger than a non full skirt oem piston. Main difference is the acceleration is quicker.

Now, for general interest, although you can use a 288 crank in a 394, you can't go the other way around as the 394 crank measures 69mm over the lobes compared to 68mm for the 288. My only 288 crank had a suspect big end but I had a very good 394 crank... the solution was to relieve the cases:

I didn’t know there was any difference between the 2 cranks. Good stuff.

Early 394 cranks were heaver therefore larger counterweights. They only did the a couple years in the early ninety's

Most of the 394's I've checked have had cranks identical to the 288, right down to the part number.
