For sure.
If you use it eventually it will break.
This saw has a few miles on it but us nowhere near shot.
I bought a 661 as soon as they were available. It had every problem one could have have for 8 months or so cutting timber every day. Eventually my dealer sent it back cause they simply couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. They gave me a new saw and it's been completely flawless. Redfin ported it for me a few months back and it's a real work horse now. Running at it 40:1 and it hasn't missed a beat.

A guy in Knoxville had a 3120 someone put the piston in backwards. It never hung but was wearing it out funny there. A little raising fixed it. That one there needs replated. How much is a 661 kit?

I'm not seeing any advantage to the husky piston over the oem.

New piston is coming
I dont really see where the 395 would gain either with that jug J. You dont have to drop the jug that far to make up for the crown difference and the intake isnt lacking with these jugs either.

I think Randy tested my 461 with and without it ,did not notice anything different on power by removing it .Someone brought up it was there to lube the pin bearing or cool the piston ,i cant remember now .

Randy said there was a service bulletin, that it cooled the piston. Strange looking thing, but very light. Must also function as a crank stuffer!

Yeah, I'm just sayin it would be luck of the draw, you never know what your gunna get with a 66
25 or so years of the same basic chassis should bring about some "changes" no ?
Lots of different jug manufacturers as well .
Pretty stout "brick chit house " bottom end and a productive feller saw....don't know if it was ever meant to be "hot rodded" on ...

Yea I got a bromance wit muh O-6-6

Great thread Jason. Definitely be interesting to see what a difference you will make!! Have a little work to do on my 066. Haven't taken the time to research it much yet....but getting intermittent spark. Ran great one day...took it out of the truck the next weekend, and poof...had a buddy that was very impressed with it while it was running properly...but rich.
