That was the EL44....
Randy this new 562 with the el48 has been flawless but man that 550 drove me crazy!! I was pondering change of the carb to the updated but that would be a 100$ chance and it was under warranty. The guys at the husky place were nice enough to let me try and work on it myself but still covered it on warranty after I couldnt fix it

I need to call them and see if they ever fixed the 550 and what it was but Id bet the carb. It was one heck of a running ported saw and kinda hated to see it go

AT 1 sound right on the problematic carb?
AT 1 was the first 550 carb, you can adjust that one easier, on AT 7 you need to remove the brass plug.
I've had AT 1 on my JRed, it has worked flawless from day one, doesnt mather whatever weather I have.

I cant remember on the 550 now but the one on it was the problematic one.
you had AT 7 A since your 550 was from 15.

I visit and spoked with one mechanicer last week, they sell around 80 +/- 20 550 a year, neither AT 1 or 7 have been flawless.
Good thing is that Husky working to fix issues, but it aint good for us customers if we get an rotten melon.
That said, compared to the sale volume 550 has, there wasnt many projects I could grab from them.

Ya after I ported that saw it was one heck of a runner and I hated to throw the towel in on it. If they fixed it someone got one heck of a nice runner!! I love my 562 though

I kinda wonder how the hell these saw companies test these things for a few years and then put it on the market and the saw get 576 updates .... dont they find this *s-word out when its in the testing phase ?

U would think so. My opinion is a hit or miss on mtronics and autotune but Id definetly stay with newer updated one unless someone on here vouches for one they have

it's always like this, piss me off. It has for sure taken them many years to sort it out.

The mechanicer I spoked with last week said there was a couple 560xpg with very low hours who where heading back to Sweeden, I would had got them if it wasnt because Husky demanded them back to the factory to figure out what the heck happen...

stihl saws

You can always justify another saw.

I have a very nice 362 for sale. It has a carb that you can work on. Feel free to make a offer.
I really would like to try the auto/mtunes, but if my carb saw has a problem I can fix it.

I have a question that i just cant figure out. Ok..so we know there are examples of 550 saws with the At 1 set up ...and we know there are 550 saws with AT 7a set ups...some of ether show issues and some "don't". Surly the product run for ether saw and the components in the saws are the same from the factory just like any other product that is made ( A1's are all the same and AT 7a'are all the same) .So...how come something that is inherently made from the same kit of parts wether AT 1 or AT7a carb set ups give out different results (some run ok some not) ????
Start procedure aside ...its the other stuff like, bog off idle after setting the saw down and so on . There must be something more to this !!?? Logic says all should work right all things being equal or all should not work right !

Software setpoints? Are they flashed to a standard setup or manually set?

This is just to show how special 550 really are, most never discuss the strong side to one model, 346 where the best 50cc saw as alround, good enough for tree felling and a pearl as limbing machine, 550 is just more compact then 346, and the cranksize tells everything. (it's the same reason why Husky 242 was totally unique)

The only husky AT saws I've had are a 2014 555 with el47 carb and a 2013 550xp (not sure what carb). I respect the not so fantastic experiences folks have had with AT systems & their carbs etc but my two saws have been awesome. Start easy, super fast no hesitation throttle response and just dependable solid runners. It sux they are not considered a 'sure bet' like standard carb saws. These toys are expensive and some NEED them to work and put money in their pockets, not be in service depts with techs that shrug their shoulders.

Why didn't the porting effect the warranty Keith?
