Ok, the back story is really long, the short version is,

I have this:

And I want this:

But all I have to accomplish it with are these (plus the normal sort of carpentry tools):

HELP?!?

Does anyone have a workshop manual? And IPL?

Your gonna have to measure all the loose bolts too make sure your using the right ones in the right holes. Can ruin everything pretty quick by putting a wrong bolt somewhere important.

You'll have er back together in no time!!

Mike,
Start with some shots of the piston and cylinder. Its an easy saw to put back together. let me know if you don't find the IPL/SM. I can get one if needed.
we need to find out what happened to the saw before we/YOU rebuild it.

start with ordering Stihl PN 5910 890 2415 its the long handle T27 wrench. I think it was $10 from stihl.

The P/C should be completely new, I apparently burnt the saw up after only having it for a month. It was using the same gas can as my FS130 weed eater (which still works just fine) and my dealer went to bat for me (otherwise apparently Stihl corporate would not have allowed any warranty coverage at all), well Stihl warrantied the replacement of the parts, but NOT the labor to replace them (a workable solution).

Sooo, I remember it had 0 compression. But don't know what it's guts looked like before a retired friend was going to put it together for me....

It is the only cylinder, and as far as I know the New one...
K. Just looking to see what may have happened. Looks like the incriminating evidence has been disposed of. I'd remove the crank and seals. Inspect all bearings closely for missing parts. Replace the seals

Purrfect...just don't let it "soak" fr too long. Most of the crud will come off with a blast off the compressor hose line.
Cover over the case with a rag so nothing gets in.
At least our answers match lol. I'm gonna go cook supper

Lol, it is the 20" b/c I have been using on my 661 (the 661 in my profile pic), I was cutting a 5' oak and a 4' maple, into rather small pieces and was told the saw overhead or something. ..... all this happened over a year ago.

ok.
what kind of tools ya got? we need to have access to "pressure and Vac testing" stuff.
go back to AS and search for cheap alternatives.
generally saws don't just "overheat" unless you "earn" their disrespect.
we're gonna need a "sealant" too. yamabond, dirko and Loctite 518 come to mind fast hunt the cheapest one closest to you.
