It was a work of art what he did there! It started as a free saw to me and he can tell the rest!

It was a gift horse I should have looked in its mouth! Ha ha.
Dang good now though.

You and your "free" Jonsered's. Lol
Was DOA and then died on the table several times, I had to take the paddles to it to bring it back. Clear!... :outtahere:

The 6100 has a Husky small mount for the bar. Has anyone ever run one with a 20" NK Husky bar running some of the newer NK chains. I need semi-chisel where I live and the Carlton NK is my chain of choice for NK. The lighter bar and chain definitely makes a saw feel a LOT lighter and handle nicer.

I expect Randy not only mods the cylinder, he also mods the carb on the 6100 for a flatter torque curve.

It’s grunty for sure. first time I tried taking rakers down it ‘bout pulled me off my feet.

I have an 18” speedcut NK I like on my 2050…I was thinking 24” NK might be real interesting on the ported 357. Or 20” and a bigger sprocket. I thought at one point I got an 8 pin small spline .325”, I’ll have to see…

The ported 361/562 beat the ported 6100 I ran and they were lighter/less bulky. It probably depends more on how good of a job the porter did modding the saw. That said I’m not a fan of 60cc saws for what I do with a saw. I prefer a 50 and 70cc combo. 60cc are good one plan firewood saws though.

I think a 20" NK bar is as long as it gets in NK. The early 20" NK bars were very flexible, however there have been some considerable improvements in rigidity. At 20" a NK bar doesn't have problem with chip clearance, even with 6.4 degrees of cutting angle (raker depth). I don't know what would happen at 24", but if someone manufactures one, maybe we can find out.

The extra 15% of cutting speed is nice to go with the lighter weight. - So, has anybody tried a NK bar on the 6100?

Ported 357 jug on a 359 bottom is probably my second favorite 60cc build behind a Stihl 361. They seem to really pull. To me it seems like the 359 bottom with out the stuffers Is stronger after a healthy port job.

Going from (lousy) memory, pretty sure T4driller found the same results

I think oregon NK is .050”…so can run on a regular bar…?
I’m not sure if Stihl RSP is narrow kerf per se, but I have been running it on standard bars without any trouble. I will declare it is the best .325 chain you can buy. Amazing performance and teeth are hard as fkuc...

I can't imagine stronger 60cc saw than my mmws 6100. Randy's recipe is just crazy good, the saw is a real monster, I think it's faster than most stock 70cc saw. But the fuel efficience and the handling are just terrible, unfortunately. I use it as a toy saw, just for fun and to make fun about some of my friend's saws

I agree on the monster part. It has to be felt.
The other stuff, I’d had to run it more compared to other saws…so far it doesn’t bother me too much.

I agree on your couple points you made. And I don’t doubt the mmws is a better recipe than the jms saw I ran was.

No surprise a 61cc can beat up on a 56.6cc.
I've run (well) ported 359's and I own a well ported 357. I prefer the 357. Stuffed has more on top IMO and if you can keep it where it's happy (with finely tuned chain), it's faster. If you like wide torque, go 59.

This is very interesting. @how57 gave me some .325 sprockets to try running .325 on bigger saws and longer bars.

I don't think fuel efficiency of my MMWS6100 is bad and I ran full tanks dry making bucking cut after bucking cut.
My MMWS6100 doesn't seem significantly more thirsty than my stock PS-6400 and I love the fuel efficiency of my PS-6400!

To me the feel of the 6100 is about the same as any other Dolmar I own.
Although I think the 6100 and EA5000 would feel more handy with 18" B&Cs instead of the 20" I have on them.
But handling is a operator biased thing, so no arguing there.

BTW, how have You been doing?!

Cheers :beer-toast1:
