The 6100 has the edge power-wise in any form, but in use feels like you're running an under powered 372. I have not ran a ported 6100, but from what I've seen it probably still has an edge. It all depends on what your particular needs are. Personally, I'd just grab a 372.View attachment 305271
Can't see the gravity from here, but the 6100 looks to have a bit of volume on that 372 ay.

(turns to look affectionately at his 365/372s/2171 harem)

I dug around a little. Good grief, the dyno makes it seem like the ported 6100 is running with a stock 395.

Maybe @Red97 can help, not that it’s super important. I was mostly curious how much tq I lost with the 357 vs. 359 and generate some discussion :)

My 6100 is a @Mastermind. I have not run one stock. I’m sure I would not like it due to the weight like @huskyboy. It’s pretty much as heavy as my 2166.

You MI guys have any input on what you’d like to see me bring to the GTG? @cuinrearview you should probably try a ported 6100. My 2166 and 395 will hopefully already be there and ported. I’m thinking about bringing the 357/2159 by @Benwa up. I should have posted this part in the gtg thread…

Based on the saws and bars and chains I have I think my 2050s will be 16/18”, 357 20”, 6100 24”, 2166 28”, 395 36”x 3120 42”. With some swapping around on the bigger saws of course.

So you're saying the crank stuffers are bad?

If you like a saw that will get in there and cut, I guess I am. The 357 is a screamer just a little bit peaky the 359 crank alleviates this aspect of the saw and puts the power in a very usable place in the curve. On paper most would pick the straight 357 over the hybrid for the higher peak power number. In the end it comes down to what is the ported saw going to be used for, work, play, race to get the correct answer for the individual. For a work saw I like the hybrid combination best. With the 357 cylinder being the only one offered for both models it makes it an easy choice at times too.

It was a work of art what he did there! It started as a free saw to me and he can tell the rest!

It was a gift horse I should have looked in its mouth! Ha ha.
Dang good now though.
I have to run it next time we meet up!
