I use a 1/2" wood chisel at an angle on all of my bands. Perfect for scraping that annoying ring out.

I do it routinely now after being burned a few times with a jug that seems like it's still a head slapper but has a .030+ squish.

I'm digging up this one again.

I got a 261 that will be hitting the bench soon.
I got thinking about this one. I know the 262 with the flat top piston is tight on squish if you do a base gasket delete.

If I do a base gasket delete and just sand the band. Will it still get a good impulse?

The notch in the case doesn't match up with the port in the bottom of the jug.

That's what I do Brian. Haven't had a problem with impulse.

Cool, thanks Dan.

It just doesn't seem like a lot of area to get a pulse from.

I'm gonna need to look closer Brian. I just know it hasn't been an issue for me. Even with a machined base. I'll try to look tomorrow. I've got 2 torn down for this thread I've still got to get to...

If you are worried about a good pulse...hog it out a bit...just not enough to compromise the base seal at the intake side...
