I have one that I think is a 1314 and a few 1300s, and the one I think might be the 1314 has a red wire on the back, and the 1300s have black, but I don't know if that means anything.
Have never seen a universal 1300 with the red wire. Just checked a MS460 I have here and it has the red wire coil which should be a 1314 given the poly f/w.
So still frustrated waiting for the MS462 has made me finish this 066/064 hybrid, Lol.So on my side bench here I have this 1996 066 with the first year heavy crank and poly flywheel and decomp valve.
Got this saw free a couple of years ago from a tree work customer that I did work for.
Has sat for 20 years with stale gas in it. Needs all new rubber parts but in solid new mechanical condition .
So I'm rebuilding it and it will handle 28"-36" b/c for my tree service seeing I sold my 395XP.
Last pic is my '92 066 Mag red light all in pieces ready for rebuild with new mains. This saw will also run in my tree service but with no dogs, only the smooth bumper I'm holding.
It will be sporting the narrow 064 flywheel and rewind housing and wearing 18"-20"-25" b/c.
So with this setup cooling is not an issue with the smaller 064 flywheel.
When I finish with it think of this 066 Mag as a 91cc MS460 with a heavy bottom end.

Thanks Jim, I never thought of that. You can go even lighter by replacing the original 064 flywheel with a poly one from an 046.
That's almost 5 oz lighter then the 064 flywheel I got on the 066 now.The 046 flywheel is 12.4 ounces.
Jim, this is a first year 066 I got with a first year 064 flywheel on it that works good with the Red Light upgraded Iida 0000 400 1300 coil.I never tried the 064 coil with the 046 flywheel. I brought along the 046 coil too. If I remember correctly the 046 coil is a direct fit on the later case. They changed the mounting boss configuration at some point which will allow the 046 coil to fit directly, but with the other one you'll need to remove the armature from the 064 coil to swap it out with the one on the 046.
She runs good. Really good.Nice! Looks good, but how she run? Just as good?
Have you thought of a vstack and short foam filter? She runs good. Really good.
Ran a 8 pin .404 on it and still pulled strong with the bar buried. Now wearing a 72LGX on a 8 pin.
Will take some mods like Jim said to get the 046 poly wheel to work. Hopefully the 0000 400 1300 coil will work on it. The rewind will need a 046 spool modded to fit the 064 housing. But if all works out the poly wheel should hyper up the 066's throttle response bit more plus another 5 oz weight saving.
Got the WJ carb converted to the non air compensating diaphragm flat cover to accept the lighter and oversized 1986 064 air filter and base. I think it breathes better then the 066 setup.
Got a pic here from last week of my 1996 066 alongside it with early 064 HD filter setup and being converted to non air compensation. That saw runs strong too with a new flywheel and piston Jim sent me. It's wearing the older 066's dual port muffler.
Forgot to take a picture of it in finished form, will post tomorrow.
