Iirc, my 036 had 104 ex without any machine work. I also tried 20thou off the key. Then someone said try 30thou. It goes very nicely now.. with the muffler opened up a bit.

I will have a look and see if I can find my notes on the in & trans
I'm going to go with 105 on the exhaust and see how it does, I can go back in and raise it if I don't like it. On the few saws I've done I seem to favor the ones with a lower exhaust.

Of the 60cc saws I’ve done, I dislike a super low exhaust. They just don’t spin up and impress you. 105 is 50cc territory imo, but it also depends how much compression you’re shooting for. I ran a 50cc saw with the exhaust at 102 and it had as much torque as my 60cc saw with the exhaust at 102, but it had 240 psi vs my 160.

I believe Dr. Al was around 103 on his 036’s and they were stout.

I think it depends on the saw, my Echo 600 and 620 are around 109 and they are very strong 60cc saws. My 346 is at 102 and my 2253 is at 108, the 2253 is much stronger/faster in the cut. If the 036 is slow in the cut I'll raise it up but if I start at 102 or 3 I can't bring it back down. I just finished the exhaust and after a cup of coffie I'll get on the transfers.

I just looked and found my 036 numbers

Trans 120

The vids I got, I think it’s with 20thou off the key. I need to do another soon as I'm sure I changed it to 30thou off the key

I was thinking about taking .025 off the key. Do you have a link to your video?

both these vids are before I got my 10mm 044, it was the 44 that I filed a 30 thou off the key, then someone said the 036 likes 30 off the key so I put it in and it did get better, I just don’t have any vids… but I maybe inspired to make one now ;)

Well it will be a week or more befor I get it together and tested, I opened up my Meteor piston and the clips are missing. I tried the old clips but they didn't feel like they had enough tension and I could spin the around without much effort. Luckly HL is a stand up company and they are sending me a new piston. Once I get it together I'll post how it does.

I did get the muffler done today.

I haven't forgoot about this thread, I'm still waiting on a worm gear and the oil hose that goeas to the bar. I couldn't wait on the parts to see if it will run so I put the clutch on and fired it up. No tuning, just 1 1/2 turns out on both screws.

Just about finished, the lower bolt hole for the spike is stripped and I need to replace the brake band. I did tune it by ear and get a couple of cuts with it, I think it runs better than the 036/044 hybrid I did with a 20' bar.
