@Moparmyway and I compared his ported 661/394 to the 385, with a good 3/8 chain on a 24" 8 pin setup on the 385 it held its own pretty good for being down 15cc. Now when we swapped the .404 on it and same bar and chain, it got its ass kicked by the bigger saws. I think a 385 is more of a 660/460 competitor. I am going to try .404 sometime on one of my own saws, seems like it would be a lot more durable in general.

Few things Mason,
1. To compare saws, each saw should run the same chain
2. Saws had different rim drives
3. Both 90+ cc saws were running 404 while you were running 375
4. 385=85cc. 661=91cc. 394=94cc where does the 15cc come from ?

Never said I was good at math class . I don't think the 3/8 comparison vs .404 counts either. I think only comparisons with same bar and chain and operator count. I'd be interested in seeing a 3/8 comparison in smaller wood (20").

I was really surprised at how much of a difference cutting styles made. We're only talking a second or 2 per cut, but Mason and I did lots of comparisons. I cut pretty much straight and let the chain and saw do their thing. Mason rocks back and forth. It appeared to me that Mason's style was always a bit faster.
Once again, nothing scientific, we were using our own saws, that weren't even same bore size, but just generally speaking.
I am really kind of just throwing it out there.
Kevin is right though. For real good comparisons, you gotta be smart and do it right. Same bar and chain. Same piece of wood. Gotta take all variables out of the equation.
With that said, all our saws, regardless of make, were awesome! Some really talented builders out there.
Nothing but the greatest respect and admiration for them and their talents. They provide a lot if fun for all of us. [emoji106]

Title said finals so they both must of went thru others and did well. 661 hit wood before the 390, but 390 cookie dropped first.
Is it saw?, chain?, or suckage?

I'd take either saw if they'd give to me. Lol
I'm not saying he sucked at all
Good chain and operator will go a long ways though

If the 390 came from Copsey they're getting faster and faster in 6 cube racing.
